Just quickly jot things down, apply some headings, bullets, numbering and maybe turn those lists into tasks. Notes should be a place where you quickly jot down what you are thinking - it should work like SimpleNote or Confluence or even Word or Google Docs if you don't touch any of the styles. Where has the Task functionality gone?.Need keyboard shortcuts at least for the same things as on the toolbars.Quill is Open Source - maybe I should contribute - but that doesn't mean it will get into Salesforce. In Spring '17 they introduced Quill to one section of Lightning - Notes. You will see at the moment (Spring '17) that Rich Text Editors do not work in Sandbox because Locker Service is enabled by default.

Quill is apparently built by ex Salesforce people, and is one of the only editors that works with the new security settings. Basically, due to some security issues (part of Lightning Locker Service), all the Rich Text Editors need to be replaced. QuillJS is the new Rich Text Editor for Salsesforce. So have to ask them to create it in Knowledge, or an external editor, and then paste it into the HTML Editor for the custom field. But there is NO WAY for them to create this HTML in the Rich Text field. They want their emails to look nice, so the Rich Text field needs to have the EXACTLY formatted HTML that will display on the emails, and fit the Corporate Style Guide.

To allow for users to have control over their email templates that are sent out to Campaign Members, I create a basic Visualforce email template, that references a custom Rich Text field on the Campaign, where they can add all the details of the Event on the Campaign. NO HTML LINKS! How is that even possible? But there are images!

  • New Quill JS Editor in Notes in Lightning Spring '17 - oh we have just gone so backwards.
  • Again, font and size should be a corporate style thing - AND THERE IS NO WAY TO INSERT AN IMAGE!
  • New Lightning Email Editor - just to make things completely different again.
  • HTML Email Editor - old and ugly, but still has some basic formatting functions like Font and Size.
  • If this one were everywhere, I could just about cope with that.
  • Knowledge Article Editor - good enough text formatting, and View Source.
  • (This is where you DON'T what users to be adding all sorts of colours and fonts - all formatting should be controlled through the HTML Email templates to maintain a corporate style).
  • Case Feeds HTML Editor  - Font, Size, Format and colour, no View Source.
  • Standard HTML Editor for Rich Text Fields no text formatting functionality, No View Source.
  • It would be nice if we could alter the background color too.

The Accent color options allow you to set your custom color from the RGB/Hex palette, or you can use your default windows accent color. It also has options to modify the background tint opacity, but it isn't quite like the frosted glass we had in Aero. You can switch between a Light theme, a Dark theme or set the app to use your Windows mode. This is where Notepads really stands out. Hit the monitor and brush icon, to get to the Personalization menu. Here you will be able to toggle Word wrap, change the font, switch between different Line Ending options, set a default encoding format, and the Tab key behavior (to define the number of spaces). The Settings has its own menu, which appears on the right edge of the screen. Take that Notepad!Ĭlicking the menu button in the corner of Notepads UI, brings up your basic options like New, Open, Save, Save As, Find, Replace and Settings.

Though it isn't mentioned in the description, Notepads supports unlimited undo and redo. Other handy shortcuts in the app include Ctrl + N or T to open a new document, Ctrl and + (to increase) or Ctrl and - (to decrease) changes the font size, and you can use Ctrl and 0 to reset it. Hopefully this will fix the constant alt-tab-ING which I do and end up on the wrong document, and repeat the process. Control + tab switches to the next open tab not a unique feature for a text editor but still an essential feature. This is perhaps my favorite feature in Notepads, each document opens in a tab.
